I can't get over how cool this angle is! I like the composition, the textures in the beard and on the skin. I really like the ring on his hand. I know how hard it is to get gray tones out of black and white lines, so Bravo! Looks awesome. We should set up a print trade. I have a bunch of small resingrave engravings. let me know!
wow. thanks for the compliments! a print trade sounds great. about time somebody with some art that i enjoy wants to do a trade. usually it's a bunch of fancy fairy bullcrap like boring still lives or just really crappy prints and stuff... check out the baren forum to see what i mean and look at their print exchanges. bluh. see here: [link]
and no not all of it is crap, by any means, but it's not GREAT either... i really liked your work though... let's talk about this exchange...
oh, and there are some cool links to lots of relief prints at [link]
yeah, hand drawn. i work from photos i take of these people b/c there's no way i could ever get anybody to ever sit down long enough. and also i don't use lino. i can't afford it. i use a hard floor vinyl that i was lucky enough to find at a local floor store. read my back journals for info on all that if you're interested. thanks for the compliment! i really appreciate it. i work my ass off on these things. especially this one. i spent an entire saturday drawing the beard only to end up hating it. then sunday brooding. monday or tuesday evening i redrew it, sort of stylized like it is now, and then cut the whole thing wednesday through friday evening, when i printed it, so it would be ready for the charity event saturday night (which is why i made all these mustache and beard prints). when i gave them the prints saturday, i had to tell them to be careful, the ink on this one is still wet. but everybody seemed happy with it.
